ClareMart Auction Group has disposed on auction more than 450 redundant vehicles from the Government Motor Transport (GMT) division of the Department of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape , says managing director Andrew Koch.

According to Koch who also conducts these auctions the group was awarded a three-year contract to dispose of redundant vehicles with the first scheduled auction that took place at the end of July this year.

Koch says these auctions that are held at the Government Warehouse Garage in Paarden Island  are always well attended and popular among trade and private buyers alike.

“The auction results of the July, August and September auctions have exceeded all expectations and so far we have realised close to R11 million for the Department of Transport and Public Works.

The next Government Vehicle auction will take place in early November, and offers a great opportunity to buy ex-government vehicles of all types, ranging from sedans, hatchbacks, bakkies, and 14- and 16-seaters, to specialist vehicles such as ambulances.

Apart from the highly successful government vehicle auctions the group conducts monthly vehicle auctions on behalf of ABSA Asset Finance.  

Koch says, these auctions usually take place every second Thursday of the month, and have a loyal following of dealers and private buyers. The October auction will see between eighty and ninety vehicles hit the auction block, and will take place on October 20 at 12:30 at the Absa Trade Centre in Koeberg Road Milnerton.
