Unprecedented Auction of Luxury Hermanus Resort Property to Proceed to Auction by Executors

The former boutique hotel, now exceptional private residence at Maanschijnkop, Hermanus Lagoon

The second in a group of world class luxury properties, which form part of an on-going Deceased Estate instruction, will be auctioned in late February. The ClareMart Auction Group has been mandated to assist the executors of the estate in disposing of a number of prestigious homes around the Cape.

The second of these stately residences within the portfolio will be auctioned on site at the private estate, Maanschijnkop which is situated directly on the Hermanus Lagoon and has generated many enquiries from both local and foreign purchasers of premium property early on its marketing campaign. The magnificent residence will be submitted for auction together with all the homes superb object d’art, antiques, luxurious furniture and immaculately appointed décor.

“The spectacular villa, built on a 2.8HA erf, was originally a luxury boutique hotel acquired by the estate and then converted into a superb personal residence and has been valued in excess of R30million. We do however remind discerning property purchasers that we will be submitting this magnificent home for public auction and advise interested buyers to attend” says ClareMart Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Smiedt, who will be conducting the auction.

“The majestic estate home consisting of six suites is located on the water’s edge of the Hermanus Lagoon and is close to the coastal resort town renowned for its world-famous whale-watching and Indian Ocean lifestyle. Property on the lagoon is rarely available and a property of this calibre will be hard to parallel anywhere along the coastal region. Hermanus and Hemel-en-Arde remain globally appealing holiday locations and this sterling estate is nestled in the midst of that sought after leisure playground. Property along that region has maintained its value, despite the global recession and is still a popular purchase for foreign holiday-home investors” says Smiedt.

The six suites are comprised of three large, one medium and two small suites. Each suite consists of two bedrooms and bathroom as well as a living area. The home possesses a large entrance hall with an open-plan lounge and dining area, wine cellar and guest water-closet. A games room with bar, a gym and a Jacuzzi complete the home’s in-door entertainment and leisure facilities. External leisure attributes of this property are a manicured garden, a putting green, a swimming pool and braai area, a tennis court and trampoline. Magnificent sea, lagoon and mountain views abound from every outlook on this private estate.

Additional features are two water reservoirs and four boreholes as well as grounds-manager’s residence, comprising of a two bedroom and two bathroom house and staff quarters which are formed by two semi-detached two bedroom cottages. For security the home offers a fully comprehensive system throughout the property and home. The auction will include all furniture and fixtures.

“Maanschijnkop is a one and a half hour drive from Cape Town International Airport and this exceptional world class resort property offers the successful and discerning bidder either the opportunity to acquire a one of a kind holiday home for the sea and water lover or the potential to revert the estate back into a boutique hotel”. Alongside the home a catamaran and small boat will be separately auctioned.

The auction will take place on-site at Maanschijnkop Wednesday, February 22 at 12pm and will be on-show on Sunday, February 12 from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday, February 19 from 2pm to 5pm.  For viewing arrangements and further information, contact Andrew Koch or MC Du Toit on 021 425 8822.
